SEPM history & milestones

A rewritten reading of SEPM’s published historic milestones — capacity moves, certifications, and product-line starts that shaped the Tebrau II campus.

  1. 1988 — Established in Malaysia for wire harness production.
  2. 1993 — Moved to Tebrau Industrial Area 2; started Flexible Flat Cable (FFC) production in M1.
  3. 1995 — Built M2; started device wires and irradiated IRRAX™ wire production.
  4. 1997 — Certified as an ISO 9002 company.
  5. 1998 — Built M3; transferred manufacturing from Sumitomo Electric Interconnect Products (S) Pte Ltd.
  6. 2000 — Certified as an ISO 14001 company.
  7. 2001 — Built M4 to expand electric wire capacity.
  8. 2003 — QMS upgraded to ISO 9001; high-voltage (HV) wire production began in M4.
  9. 2005 — ISO/TS 16949 certified; automotive wire production started in M4.
  10. 2006 — Started steering cable (STC) production for automotive airbag applications.
  11. 2007 — Started gold (Au) plating production.
  12. 2009 — OHSAS 18001 certified; ISO 9001 upgraded to the 2008 edition.
  13. 2010 — Started HEV automotive wire production.
  14. 2011 — ISO/TS 16949 upgraded to the 2009 edition.
  15. 2012 — M3 Flat Component Division expanded STC production.
  16. 2013 — M4 Electronic Wires Division expanded large-size AVX wire production.
